Save the Date for our Recovery Celebration

Drug and Alcohol Presentations, Inc. will host its first annual recovery celebration banquet on November 18, 2017 at 6:00pm at the Kanawha United Presbyterian Church in Charleston. The church is located at 1009 Virginia Street East, and the event will be in the multi-purpose room, which is on the Kanawha Boulevard side of the building. The event will include a banquet catered by The Top Spot, an address from keynote speaker Matt Boggs, and live music from the band Chick Maddox and Friends. We have invited several community leaders from around the state and the Kanawha Valley area who, like us, are engaged in work to fight against substance abuse and addiction.

Matt Boggs, our keynote speaker, is the Executive Director of Recovery Point WV (formerly known as The Healing Place of Huntington). In this role he manages four separate long-term, residential substance use recovery facilities across West Virginia. He is also a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PR) certified through the state of West Virginia. Mr. Boggs has served in various roles at Recovery Point, including as Project Coordinator of a statewide peer recovery training class and as the organization’s Director of Development. In addition, he serves on numerous committees throughout the state that are aimed at promoting substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery, which include the following: serving as chair of the West Virginia Certification Board of Substance Abuse Professionals PR Credential, acting as a member of Congressman Evan Jenkins’ (R-WV) substance abuse advisory council, and acting as an advisory member for the Cabell-Huntington Harm Reduction Program. Mr. Boggs is also a national advocate for ensuring equitable care for substance-use disorders and making recovery a reality for those who seek it. He himself is a person in long-term recovery from substance abuse disorders and an alumnus of Recovery Point in Huntington. His bachelor’s degree is from Marshall University and he plans to begin a master’s program in healthcare administration in the near future.

Whatever stage of life you are in, we hope you will join us at this event to connect with others who are fighting against substance abuse and celebrating recovery. We have not yet determined the cost per meal, but please let us know if you are interested in coming. You can call us at (304) 925-1565 or email us at
