Announcing Our Spring Celebration and Fundraiser

We are pleased to announce our spring celebration of the successes of Drug and Alcohol Presentations, Inc., honoring our founder and president, Charles F. Maddox II. We hope you will join us! The event will be on Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at Kanawha United Presbyterian Church at 1009 Virginia Street East in Charleston. The event will take place in the church gymnasium.

After the welcome and general announcements, Drug and Alcohol Presentations board member J.K. McAtee will introduce our keynote speaker. Our keynote speaker for the evening will be Matt Boggs, executive director of Recovery Point of West Virginia, a non-profit organization that provides long-term recovery programs for men suffering from alcoholism and/or drug addiction, through three different locations in West Virginia. The program is free, and its emphasis is on emotional support and personal accountability through peer-to-peer interactions, as all Recovery Point staff members are graduates of the program who are devoted to helping others like themselves recover from addiction. Matt will speak to us about this successful recovery model and as well as issues involved in addiction treatment.

Our dinner, catered by Shoney’s, will offer your choice of baked chicken or four-ounce sirloin, with sides of corn and green beans, along with rolls and butter. We will have seasonal pies and cobblers for dessert. Beverage choices will include sweet and unsweet iced tea, coffee, and water. Plates are $35 for single meals and $60 for couples.

After our meal, we will enjoy some family-friendly musical entertainment as our band performs lively popular favorites. Band members include Charles Maddox, lead vocals; Ron Sowell, lead guitar; Mike Arcuri, rhythm guitar and backup vocals; Margaret Wilson, piano; and Jody Ashley, bass.

We expect the evening to be one of friendly fellowship and inspiration for helping people live free from substance abuse. Please reserve your spot for this event by April 15. You may call us at (304) 925-1565 or email us at If you would like to use your credit card to pay for your meal, you can call Ginger at (304) 340-3507, and she will take your information.
